Most Essential Learning Competencies issued by DepEd

VI. Activity:

A. Situation:

Main Task
Republic Act No. 10743 titled “An Act Declaring the Fifth Day of October of Every Year as the National Teachers’ Day’ and UNESCO have designated October 5 of every year as the National Teachers’ Day (NTD) and World Teachers’ Day (WTD). It is a day to honor teachers and the central role they play in guiding as well as in molding children, youth, and adults through life-long learning process to become productive citizens of society.

In the Philippines, it has been made a month-long celebration through the issuance of Proclamation No. 242 in 2011 titled “Declaring the Period from 05 September to 05 October of Every Year, the NTM/NTD/NTD shall be celebrated with the theme “Gurong Pilipino: Katuwang sa Hamon, Kasama sa Pagbangon.”

In relation to this, you are going to create a digital scrapbook with contents focusing on the selfless sacrifices, resiliency, and work- related values done and displayed by your teachers, as a form of tribute to them. Please take note that you should highlight the things your interviewee/s have done as they transformed into the new normal of teaching, which is within the bounds of the digital world, and what inspires them to continue serving you, the students and other stakeholders amidst the uncertainties and threats of COVID-19. The number of interviewee/s will be at least one (1) teacher to maximum of ten (10).

Alternative Task/s

In case you do not have the gadget (Laptop or Wi-Fi) or smart phones (internet- ready phones), to create the output for the main task, you may do one of the following alternatives (Please choose one only).

Alternative 1. Story Book.
Create a story book using materials available at home, or as prescribed by the teacher, focusing on only one teacher. The limited interviewee will let you highlight his/her story well. This could be submitted once people’s movement is eased by IATF- Ilocos Sur. Note that the medium changes in this alternative (from digital to cut-and-paste or do-it-yourself story book.) Your creativity is highly encouraged here.

Alternative 2. Photo Collage.
Create a Photo Collage (cut and paste activity) using your teacher/s as your collage subjects. The collage must still highlight the inspiring deeds of your teachers through photos taken. In this alternative, you may have at least 5 to 10 teachers as the subjects of your collage. Please use one half cardboard and be as creative as you can.
